What is Hypnotherapy?
Hypnotherapy is a type of complimentary therapy that uses hypnosis. It works on the basis that it can be our unconscious thoughts that cause us to behave in ways that consciously we’d prefer not to and it is a fantastic tool for changing any behaviour you wish to change.
Hypnosis is a state of deep relaxation and is often referred to as a trance state. In our daily lives we all go into such states naturally, for example when daydreaming or when concentrating deeply on something. Typically in a hypnosis session your body will be relaxed, but your mind will be active and you will remain aware of who you are and where you are, and you will also remember what transpired. At any time during the session you will be able to come out of the hypnotic state quickly.
What happens in a Hypnotherapy Session?
In your initial session we will start by discussing the issue you want treated. I will explain how hypnotherapy works and answer any questions you may have. Your treatment will be based on your individual needs. Depending on the issue, you may need just one session or several.
At each subsequent session, we will begin by discussing what changes have occurred. As part of your treatment I may also teach you self-hypnosis so you can manage your own condition. It may take a few weeks of practice before you feel the benefits of self-hypnosis.
