Symptoms – It’s not just Hot Flushes!* **
Heart Palpitations in Menopause
When I started to experience the classic hot flushes and night sweats, I had no idea that for me this was just the start. My hot flushes were a challenge in themselves as seemingly from nowhere, they would erupt like a volcano and I desperately tried to control them. This led to feelings of anxiety and whilst I am not a particularly ‘stress filled’ person, I noticed I was starting to get heart palpitations.
Weight Gain due to Menopause
I have always loved exercise and keeping active and my diet has always been good and these things would naturally lead to keeping me trim. To my horror, I started to notice my waist thickening, I checked my diet, changed my exercise routine, but nothing seemed to work.
The Menopause Symptom of being Less Social
As my symptoms evolved, I realised that I was starting to decline more and more invites out to social events, friends I have known for years started asking if I was ok, and then I realised, that because of the weight gain, because of the flushes and the heart palpitations, I was shrinking into a ‘shell’ where I felt safe.
Migraine and Menopause
With my hormones fluctuating, my Migraine headaches became more frequent and fierce. They became so bad and so frequent at one stage, that I was having 3 or 4 in a month and having to take frequent time off work as they lasted from 2 to 3 days at a time.
Sleep and Naps with Menopause
I love sleeping! It refreshes you both physically, emotionally, and spiritually. It is during this time that your body repairs itself. As I have got older (I am now in my 50’s), I find that I am sleeping less, but it is better sleep and naps are beginning to become part of my life.
